Hell Yes X VIGYL screams rebellion from all sides. One of our boldest creations yet, inspired by Alexandre Cabanel’s Fallen Angel. The painting features a distraught angel as he is cast out from heaven. It was created by the classic portraitist who was known for painting historical and religious figures.

Alexandre Cabanel's 'Fallen Angel' Painting

It depicts the epitome of multitudes: the strength of the angel’s body, the anger in his eyes, the perfect belonging of his wings, and the outcast moment of his being on the rocks of earth. It captures the exact moment between expulsion and revenge.

We crafted our scented candle around these themes, starting with the use of Amber. This base builds a heated spiciness and richness. Paired with even spicier heart notes, we pulled from the heat of the Angel’s gaze. These spices are combined with our duet of white lily and neroli to display the angelic sweetness and immaculateness of the piece. Our fruity-citrus top notes of cyclamen and lime add a zesty counter-balance to the sweeter tones.

VIGYL Design Highlight:

We shot our Hell Yes campaign with photographer Brandon Titaro and product stylist Chad Burton in Toronto, Canada. Inspired by the subject matter of the fallen angel artwork, we envisioned a continuation of the narrative that captured visually the tension, angst and raw emotion of the outcast. Caught in a freefall and surrounded by twisting thorns, the final piece is meant to illustrate the feeling of determination, zest and against-all-odds perseverance that often accompanies forging one’s own path.
